There is a kind of mercy in the way the living gather themselves around what has already passed on. These small birds, bright as prayer and busy with their brief inheritance of air, hover above the silent skull as if tending an old covenant between death and bloom. The flowers rise wild and unashamed from the same earth that once carried bone and feather alike, and in that companionship there is no cruelty, only continuance. What has fallen here has not been discarded, but folded back into the great household of creation, where beauty is never separate from loss, and where even the empty vessel of a creature may become a cradle for color, song, and the patient work of renewal.
